•Chairman Michael Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM
•Chairman Johnson passed out the new SAYR pens.
-Social media campaign: If someone brings a SAYR pen to meeting, they get $10 off membership. Members should pass them out around town. Bumper stickers are $10.
-Robert Donaldson: Incentives outside of SAYR merchandise? IE gas card?? Just a thought
-Andy Page: Be sure website address is on next order of pens as the current pens only have the SAYR name and logo
•Chairman Johnson: Social Media Update: We have Instagram now. We currently have 498 “likes” on facebook and 516 followers on Twitter. Facebook: Goal is 1,358 “Likes” (match AYR). Twitter: Goal is 1,634 followers (match GYR). Social media stats are on a spreadsheet. This will forward to Tim Waters.
•Chairman Johnson: #sayrrepeat will be used between now and convention
-James Hall: At next week’s meeting, the general membership will be encouraged to take their own pictures and use the above hashtag when they post pictures online.
•Chairman Johnson: Can we still use James Hall’s condo for St. Patrick’s Day?
-James Hall: Condo is still available, but he may need someone to help with setup. Tim Waters said he would assist
•Chairman Johnson: Masquerade Ball at Gatsby’s is set for March 1.
•Chairman Johnson: Locations for March “Meet The Candidates” scheduled for last Thursday in March
-James Hall: Suggested Barracuda Bob’s but parking may be an issue. Chairman Johnson said that he did not want to a location with parking problems. James Hall stated that eliminates all downtown locations except for Pirate’s House. All agreed that we did not want to return to The Pirates House the prior “Meet Your Reps” was held there.
o It was decided that the next “Meet Your Candidates” should be held on the Southside. Suggested Southside locations included:
o It was decided that the event will be held at the Southside B&D Burgers. Tim Waters will set up event.
•Chairman Johnson: Discussion of June Location
o It was decided that the June “Meet Your Candidates” will be held at the B&D Burgers downtown on Congress Street.
•Chairman Johnson: September Location for “Meet your Candidates”
o James Hall: Do we want to look at the islands or West Chatham?
o Tim Waters: Do we want a location on Whitmarsh Island?
o Andy Page: location on Tybee Island?
o It was decided that the September “Meet Your Candidates” will be located at Cocos Sunset Grill. Tim Waters will follow up

o James Hall: What will CCRP or Candidates do?
o Robert Donaldson will follow up to see what CCRP is planning for Primary and Election Night. Further discussion will follow Robert’s findings.
•Robert Donaldson: Are we doing something for Black History Month?
o Chairman Johnson: There will be daily postings on black conservatives during the month of February
o Chairman Johnson and VC Donaldson will meet with black leaders
•Chairman Johnson: May Meeting Speaker needed as monthly meeting will be held after the primary election. The following were ideas suggested:

Michael Johnson and Robert Donaldson are going to try to visit black churches for an open Q & A session about the GOP. Listen and ask them about issues.
Andy Page: Focus on what’s the same….not different
Robert Donaldson: What is the underlying assumption? Is it more socio-economic then it is race?
Tim Waters: Perception that we hate poor people
Michael Johnson: We need to attack policy over people

•Chairman Michael Johnson: Motioned for all exec board members to get one bumper stickers for free. Andy Page seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Savannah Area Young Republicans General Meeting for January held on 2/4/2014
-The January meeting was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
-Chairman Michael Johnson and Vice Chairman Robert Donaldson were not present due to family emergencies.
-Communications Director James Hall called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM. He also lead the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the general welcome/opening remarks.
-Communications Director discussed the SAYR’s social media presence including facebook, twitter, and instagram. He advised the members to use the hash tage #sayrrepeat for any pictures they take at SAYR events and post online.
-Finance Director Andy Page gave the current club balance. He also advised that we would need sponsors for upcoming events. This included the Georgia Young Republicans state convention that will be hosted by this chapter on the weekend of June 14.
-Membership Director Jabari Bryant reminded everyone of the membership options ($30 yearly and $75 lifetime). He also gave an update for the Masquerade ball scheduled for March 1.
-Technology Director Tim Waters reminded every one to “like” SAYRs on facebook, follow SAYRs on Twitter, and to follow us on instagram.
-Mr. Eugene Yu, candidate for US Senate, was thekeynote speaker.
-Announcements: -Next SARW Meeting will be on Feb 5 from 11:30 AM-1 PM at Johnny Harris Banquet Hall. -As John McCallum has to attend a candidate forum in Waycross, Heather Whitestone McCallum (Johns’s wife and former Miss America) with be the speaker at the next SAYR event.

Credentials: Ed Thompson is chair of re-chartering. GYR needs membership list by the end of March. As of now, we have 19 on our list. Meeting and Ball will be before the deadline

• The meeting began at 7:02 PM
• Chairman Michael Johnson, Communications Director Hall, and Finance Director Page were in attendance.
• Chairman Johnson: We are re-chartering at 54members. Last year was 32. While we’ve increased from last year, we’ve fallen short of our goal of 75.
• Chairman Johnson: We must be consistent with our social media postings
• Chairman Johnson: We will begin sending out e-mails asking for donations of $5-$10.
• Communications Director Hall: Stated he heard second hand information that some members feel like we ask for money to much. He expressed concern this could repel members.
• Chairman Johnson: The more people go ahead and join/pay dues, the less we have to raise money. Furthermore, the goal is to allow due paying members into events for free, not a reduced rate.
• GYR Convention Status
o We currently have $400 in the bank. There was a discussion of the status of potential donors, etc.
o We need to have 150 members by convention
• Upcoming events:
o Congressional Debate on March 27 hosted by the Skidaway Island Republican Club (SIRC)
o The US Senate Primary Debate is on March 29
• Primary Night (May 20). In lieu of a monthly meeting, we will host an elections results party. B&D Burgers on Congress may be our location
• GYR Convention details: We need to firm up plans for the Sandgnats game and 4 dinner locations.
• July 3: This will be our 4th of July Party. Instead of going back to Churchills, do we want to do a Sandgnat’s game?
• April General Meeting: Buddy Carter will be our speaker
• After primary: Our monthly speakers be candidates from run off elections?

Trolley: Can we post signage on trolleys as fundraising incentives?

Saturday: Convention and Sandgnats game that night.

May 20: Primary night party night. It will be at the B&D Burgers on Southside. It will be in conjunction with the CCRP.

Recruitment Cards: No response from the 5th and 8th, but we weren’t expecting a significant response. The decision was made to target 2nd District next (94 potential members targeted)
June 26: Meet the Candidates at B&D on Congress Street. Buddy Carter is trying to make it. Bob Johnson will not be attending, David Perdue declined. Jolene Byrne will be attending.
July 22 Run-Off Party Location: The board decided on Moon River. Communications Director James Hall to follow up.
August General Meeting: Invite one of the Run Off Winners
September: Meet the Candidates
October: Invite one of the run off winners. If the Senate or Congressional Candidate declines, then an invitation will be extended to the Governor or another state wide officer.
November: Election Night Victory Party (location pending) and Chapter Elections (Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving)
E-mails will be sent out in Sept and October to gage member interest in running for one of the elected offices.
Depending on interest, we may have members vote on a slate.
Sept/Oct: Reach out to Young Democrats to co-host a Congressional debate. We may even enlist nonpartisan groups. The was a further discussion on the debate mechanics.

-Sept Meet the Candidates:We still looking at Coco’s? Director Page to follow up.
-No update on the Election Night Victory Party as CCRP has yet to confirm a venue.
-This Tuesday is the Primary Run-Off Election. The SAYRs will be hosting their party at the Moon River Brewing Company.
-CCRP Update: Chairman Johnson is the current defacto grassroots chairman for the CCRP. Piggyback off what the county is doing. Plan will be presented to CCRP and SAYRs.
-Sept Event: The Congressional debate will take the place of the September/Quarterly “Meet Your Candidates.”
-Chairman Johnson said his church (located in Ardsley Park) is not an option. Director Hall and Chairman Johnson will reach out to Sarah Westberry and Will Gruver about having the event in the Jaycees’ facility.
-YRs and YDs will compete to find sponsors. First organization to secure a sponsor gets to pick if they want to host the debate or dinner. Title sponsors: $500. All other sponsors: $100. Title sponsor may have their name in the debate title. Sponsors have access to the green room before debate and dinner afterwards.
-Membership dues: Money is flat. We must bring in more members and membership dues.
-August Meeting: One of the run off winners to be our speaker.
-October Meeting: Will be another candidate as speaker (statewide to local)
-Finance Director Page: Balance remains at $890.13 (same as last exec meeting)
-Post cards to district 8 and 5 have not yielded any new members.
-After a brief discussion, the board agreed to focus on two precincts within 7th District (7-7 and 7-12). Both precincts are in “new Pooler” neighborhoods in the vicinity of Pooler Parkway and Godley Station.
